
The three prongs of the bits and the three foils of the bow refer to the organization's mission of providing command, administration and logistical assistance to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Prisoner of War Camp. The stem of the key in simulating the letter "I" also alludes to investigation, interrogation and internment. The double bits refer to the evacuation and process of prisoners of war and/or civilian internees from field Army areas to prisoner of war camps. The key is symbolic of authority, command, control, fidelity and wardenship. On a green shield arched at top 3 inches (7.62cm) in height overall a yellow vertical stylized doubled-bitted key with a pierced trifoliate bow all within a 1/8 inch (.32cm) yellow border.

It was redesignated for the 333d Military Police Brigade effective 16 June 2012. The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally approved for the 800th Military Police Brigade on 8 April 1985. The sword symbolizes duty, military strength and law enforcement. The oak leaf is a reference to the oak trees at Fort Ord, California, where the unit was first activated. The axe-head shape of the insignia symbolizes authority and security.
